Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which emphasizes the idea that many of life’s issues fall on a continuum between change and acceptance. Certain elements of life we need to change while others we may need to accept. DBT uses techniques to help individuals understand the change-oriented skills (emotion regulation & interpersonal effectiveness) versus the acceptance-oriented skills (mindfulness & distress tolerance).
